Ok, some of you will say that aince I have done a trip through the major countries in Europe before. Why Would I want to do it again? The answer to that question is quite simple. Europe in Winter is a completely different experience from experiencing Europe in the Summer and after all the fun that was had in doing my Contiki trip through the Euoropean regions in 2007 (http://marsinlondoneurope.blogspot.com/) I thought it to be the right thing to experience this in Winter. This blog will be a collection of the journey through Europe and its leadup to departure... Be sure to check in frequently for new discoveries as we go..

Planning

They say it's all in the planning ... We'll they are right.. whoever they are must have known that planning makes things a whole lot simpler and more structured.

When it comes to planning a trip to a foreign country there are numerous things to take into consideration. Oh, if you don't have a passport ... best you run to your local authorities as quickly as possible as that is your token to freedom!

The next most important thing is getting the required VISAs for the places to be visited. Luckily now that the European Countries are all doing their thing together it makes it a whole lot easier to get just a single VISA to allow you to traverse all the countries in Europe. They call this a Schengen VISA - just in case you want to make sure you ask for the right thing at the travel agent.

The visa process is a bit of a nightmare.. They require tonnes of documentation and substantiating evidences on address and banking and income and and and .... but hey! Its all worth it at the end of the day.

For the trip the requirement was two separate VISAs, jip... One for the United Kingdom and a second for Europe.
